After much digging through boxes and searching for old emails, I think I have now tracked down all of the yarn I bought from Elvincraft on Ebay a decade or so ago (I mean, most I've already turned into shawls, but I was unsure which yarn was which).

Now I wish I'd bought more! A lot more.

Particularly of the homegrown, rustic Scottish wools.

Like this beautiful North Ronaldsay yarn.

Which I can't get because a) Elvincraft doesn't ship to my location, and especially b) what are those prices. Ten years ago 38 € would have gotten me two skeins + shipping. =/

I ended up watching videos on different knitting styles and made some interesting discoveries.

#1 is that I apparently knit English style. I mean, I knew I was a "thrower" but I had no idea that is what "English" style is all about. It's just the way my elders taught me how to knit as a child. Yeah yeah, it's slower but I like it and getting used to another style now would take a long time

#2 Russian is a type of continental but supposedly the fastest

#3 Or maybe that was the old Shetland style that is apparently the same as Norwegian style

#4 Portuguese style is something, but the knit stitch seems way too complicated

#5 Flicking...how do you flick. How do you keep holding onto the needle while you flick. My instinct to throw is just too strong.

I tried Russian style for simple purling and it's actually very nice.

The right side/knit side of the work...not so much. I find it hard to do yo's (found myself with many missing stitches) and how do I ktbl if I'm already knitting through the back loop to make a normal knit stitch? K2tog is okay.

Maaaybe I'm going to mix English style for the right side of the work and Russian style for the back.

Is that too much of a conflict?
